Kerrang Magazine

The word KERRANG is on a black banner which makes the white text stands out as it contrasts with the darker background that it is on. The type of music that kerrang features is rock, punk pop, metal. This fits in with our bands genre. The font Kerrang is very in your face and jumps out at you, it gives the impression that it is replicating a guitar playing a really high note. The lines that are going across the word almost resembles cracked glass.

Analysis of our music video : A&E Acoustic Sessions

What went well?

We have a wide variety of shots and thought we didn't bore the viewers with long winded shots, we cut to each shot quickly. We used a good setting with trees and the swings with the bright red colour worked really well against the crispness of the white snow. We used slow motion and fast motion in the video and also used some effects to change what it looked like. I thought we gave ourselves more than enough time to edit and we had plenty of footage that was easy to cut and we probably had more than we needed. I thought we had a good chemistry on camera and it seemed natural. there were a few other good points in that we managed to use some really good camera angles and they were well thought out.

What can we improve on next time?

There was a couple of problems that we had when filming because as we were filming outside the wind interrfered with the sound of us talking especially in the last shot. We had a few problems with lighting and also as it was so cold it was hard to be completely perfect when filming and there was some human error. As it was our first time we were not experienced in filming and editing but we learnt alot and i think next time we will be alot better as we will be more confident in what we are doing.

Feedback from other groups.

We received feedback from a number of people, this was good and bad but otherwise it was constructive. "The lip-syncing was out of time and looked quite bad" We can improve on this by focusing more on the singing when we film and then we can spend time focusing on syncing it perfectly in time. "They had a good chemistry on camera" this is positive and it emphasises what we thought at the time which is good. "We thought they mucked about too much" we tried to make it look like we didnt take ourselves serious and want to have fun but people obviously felt we came across to childish which is fair enough and we will try maintain our band image without portraying that. "We thought they showed a specific genre" This is positive because it shows that we have distinguished between genres and people werent confused about what sort of band we were and what music we play which is good.

Introduction - Kasabian

Kasabian are an English rock band formed in Leicester in 1997. The band's original members consisted of vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist and backing vocalist Sergio Pizzorno, and bassist Chris Edwards. The band's line-up was completed by Jay Mehler in 2006, replacing guitarist Christopher Karloff, and drummer Ian Matthews in 2004 after a string of session drummers. Kasabian have released four studio albums – Kasabian (2004), Empire (2006), West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009), and Velociraptor! (2011).

Kasabian's genre is Indie Rock. The band's music has been described as a mix between The Stone Roses and Primal Scream with the swagger of Oasis. Their music has won them several awards and recognition in the media, including a Brit Award in 2010 for Best British Group, and their live performances are generally lauded.

This video is of a song from the bands earliest album. It is not very clear or precise filming, this shows that the band did not have a lot of money to film tis video with. The video portrays them in an abandoned house in WW2 Russia and it is very random and has no clear connection to the song. It shows they did not have a clear objective or target audience when making this video. They are shown performing in the house and there are various shots of the band which are mainly close ups.

This video is from their latest album called velociraptor. The image is still black and white so it hasn't changed in that respect but there are a lot more visual effects and the camera is clearer.

There are a lot of close-up visuals of the band and the odd shot of the band performing as a whole. The image is more about the music and they are being represented as a darker band not fun loving. They use the black and white effect and the band have very serious faces they never smile.

Kasabian see themselves as very british and they came out at a time when britain needed a dose of proper music. They pride themselves on being different and they differ as they are slightly arrogant and over confident and have almost a techno rock edge about them.

This is a picture of the band from earlier in their career and they are not smiling and they look very serious so they are trying to portray a more macho image for the band. They are almost trying to cover themselves and make themselves seem mysterious.

This is the album cover for the bands latest album 'velociraptor' It is again the black and white theme that the band seem to like. It is an unorthodox album cover and it is a visual  because you have to look at it two or three times to know what you are looking at which ties in with the mysteriousness of the band.
