Introduction - Kasabian

Kasabian are an English rock band formed in Leicester in 1997. The band's original members consisted of vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist and backing vocalist Sergio Pizzorno, and bassist Chris Edwards. The band's line-up was completed by Jay Mehler in 2006, replacing guitarist Christopher Karloff, and drummer Ian Matthews in 2004 after a string of session drummers. Kasabian have released four studio albums – Kasabian (2004), Empire (2006), West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009), and Velociraptor! (2011).

Kasabian's genre is Indie Rock. The band's music has been described as a mix between The Stone Roses and Primal Scream with the swagger of Oasis. Their music has won them several awards and recognition in the media, including a Brit Award in 2010 for Best British Group, and their live performances are generally lauded.

This video is of a song from the bands earliest album. It is not very clear or precise filming, this shows that the band did not have a lot of money to film tis video with. The video portrays them in an abandoned house in WW2 Russia and it is very random and has no clear connection to the song. It shows they did not have a clear objective or target audience when making this video. They are shown performing in the house and there are various shots of the band which are mainly close ups.

This video is from their latest album called velociraptor. The image is still black and white so it hasn't changed in that respect but there are a lot more visual effects and the camera is clearer.

There are a lot of close-up visuals of the band and the odd shot of the band performing as a whole. The image is more about the music and they are being represented as a darker band not fun loving. They use the black and white effect and the band have very serious faces they never smile.

Kasabian see themselves as very british and they came out at a time when britain needed a dose of proper music. They pride themselves on being different and they differ as they are slightly arrogant and over confident and have almost a techno rock edge about them.

This is a picture of the band from earlier in their career and they are not smiling and they look very serious so they are trying to portray a more macho image for the band. They are almost trying to cover themselves and make themselves seem mysterious.

This is the album cover for the bands latest album 'velociraptor' It is again the black and white theme that the band seem to like. It is an unorthodox album cover and it is a visual  because you have to look at it two or three times to know what you are looking at which ties in with the mysteriousness of the band.
